Pico Water District accepting applications for appointment to Board of Directors

Updated: Jan 28, 2021

The Pico Water District is requesting applications from constituents for a spot on its Board of Directors, a position that pays approximately $1,200 per month. The Board of Directors establishes policy for the District—policy that is administered by the General Manager, who is hired by the Board.

The District has received increased scrutiny following the discovery of harmful chemicals, including per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Options are being considered to deliver cleaner water to the residents of Pico Rivera.

The Board seat was left open by Andrew Lara, who resigned from the Board following his election to the Pico Rivera City Council. Applicants must live within the service area of the Pico Water District, be a U.S. citizen, and not have been convicted of a felony.

In their applications, applicants must answer in regard to what they feel is the most important issue that should be addressed by the Board, what the applicant would do to work cooperatively with the current Board, their perception of the role of a Director for the Pico Water District, and general knowledge about the District.

All applications must be received by January 28, 2021 at 3 p.m.
